Hello!, I am Rani Wemel, my maiden name is Theviga Rani, and am truly blessed to be born to my late parents, my late father, Mr. Vivekanandan Velupillai, who was attached to the National Electricity Board, and my late mother, Madam Gunavathy Murugesa Pillai, who was a dedicated school teacher. I have an only brother, Datuk Dr. Siva Ananthan, the Founder and Principal of ATC School of Laws. I got married to my first love, Dr. Wemel Cumavoo, and together we are blessed with 3 lovely children, a daughter, and two sons.

I started work immediately after my A-Levels as I did not have funds to further my studies, started as an Audit Clerk, and went to evening classes to continue my studies. Unfortunately with my salary of RM180 per month, I was unable to pay my Exam Fees for the ICMA examination, that's when I chanced upon Educational, Welfare & Research Foundation Malaysia (EWRF) and shared my predicament and EWRF helped to pay my exam fees. It was the best news ever which meant I can sit for my exams and move on. The next best thing happened when I got through my ICMA papers and one of the companies I was auditing, actually offered me a position as their Accounts Officer with a salary of RM1200. Thereon I continued to grow in my career.

I love learning and pursued the University of London as an external student thanks to my brother who sponsored my studies. I was a Law Lecturer before resigning in 2000, to spend more time with my children.

I started my mobile learning company 18 years ago from my dining table driven by my passion to empower people and transform organizations by making learning affordable and accessible to all. I started by teaching English via SMS on the black and white Nokia mobile phone.

Together with my husband and business partner Dr. Wemel Cumavoo, we are global pioneers in mobile learning and learning experience portals. We are also the first in the world to offer a Certificate Program in English Proficiency on a mobile device. Today we lead a successful digital knowledge curation business that I built from the ground up. Our world-class learning platforms have been recognized by the United Nations and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation & Development (OECD) as proven building capacity platforms.

We continue to work with leading partners globally to support sustainable talent upskilling. As a Technology Service Provider, our platform is endorsed by the Industry Expert Panel and is part of the Jom Transform Program by FinLab-UOB and helps with the digital transformation program for SMEs in Malaysia and in the region. As part of my contribution back to society, I have been instrumental in the development and implementation of numerous impact projects to empower women, youth, people with special needs including the blind and visually impaired, and refugees to have access to quality learning to up-skill themselves.

Among my recent recognitions include being among Asia CEO COMMUNITY's - Inspirational Female Business Leaders and also was bestowed Entrepreneurial Excellence Award for astounding services in the field of Global Mobile Learning and Edutainment Services, at the 7th National Entrepreneurs' Day Awards 2020 by the National Foundation for Entrepreneurship Development (NFED), Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. I serve as an Honorary Advisor, Mentor, Speaker, Panelist. I have always believed that a passion for profit must be matched by deep compassion for the community too.
